Over $11k & New Stretch Goal for 12K
over 2 years ago – Mon, Oct 25, 2021 at 06:39:16 PM

THANK YOU for our best start ever - fastest to $11,000 and to our current 343 backers.

New Stretch Goal

Most single issue comics are 21 story pages pages in a 32 page book. Bloom #4 clocks in at 28 story pages, which, minus front and back cover, leaves only two pages for everything else (credits, letters, shoutouts, etc.)  If we hit $12,000 I've added a new stretch goal that will turn our final issue from 32 to 40 pages! Also like last time, if we break our record of backers (399) everyone will get in on the day one bonus receiving a surprise comic with their rewards.

So please share the campaign, tag a few specific friends when you do. Butch Mapa has done an jaw-dropping job on the illustrations, and I solemnly believe this ending is among the absolute best work I've done in my entire career of film and comics.

Coloring is 50% Complete

Some of you may recall Tom Zahler's groovy Regina pinup from the Apama V.2 collection. He is the creator of Love and Capes, and has a cool new chapter to which we can all relate:

Love and Capes: In the Time of Covid Collection

First published in 2006, Love and Capes is the Ringo and Harvey-nominated, heroically super situation comedy about Mark Spencer, the world’s greatest superhero, the Crusader, and his girlfriend (now wife), bookstore owner, Abby. Together, they have  navigated dating, marriage and parenthood. Now have two kids, James and  Hayley, and are having brand-new new adventures.

"So, you may have heard about this whole pandemic thing. It was in all  the papers. We all found different ways to deal with it. People made  sourdough bread, they binged watched Battlestar Galactica, and me… well, I came back to Love and Capes. I decided to work through my anxiety and thoughts about a year of lockdown by putting my own characters through it.

It’s the pandemic. But funny."

Dan Parent Cover & Recommendations

Thanks everyone who has helped us reach our current $8,863! We're nearing our next stretch goal of $9000 which will be a Tap Dance Killer bookmark

I'm happy to report that NY Comic Con was my best show ever, and I just found out that Comic Shop News will be doing a feature story on Bloom #4!

 THE DAN PARENT COVER

I met Dan Parent of Archie Comics fame at Gem City Con in Dayton, and thought it would be amazing to have him do a retro cover for the finale of Bloom. We kicked around some ideas, and looked at all the books that were released the month of Woodstock (August 1969.) The winner was Sub-Mariner #16 by the wonderful Marie Severin.

Dan is re-imagining the piece with Ramsey caught in the psychedelic waves of our lovely Regina. We don't have the final colored art to show yet because Mr. Parent has been cranking on his own Kickstarter campaign for KEVIN KELLER: A CELEBRATION OMNIBUS which ENDS IN ONE DAY, but feast eyes on those inks!!

KEVIN KELLER A CELEBRATION campaign by Dan Parent ends tomorrow morning!

"The addition of Kevin to Riverdale was an important one, because we  hadn't had an openly gay character in our comics before. But when I  brought up the idea to Jon Goldwater, he felt it was time for the LGBT commmunity to have a place in Riverdale. The tricky part was to  introduce a character in a way where it didn't come off as a gimmick, but as a part of a permanent place in Riverdale. This was important to  the integrity of the character, our comics, and myself as a creator.  Fortunately, Kevin was very well received, and soon seamlessly blended in to the fabric of Riverdale. A decade later, the mission has been  accomplished, as Kevin is an integral part of the gang, and a main  character on the Riverdale TV series.

Even though the character of Kevin is a first , I wanted to make sure  his stories were fun and wacky, in the true spirit of Archie Comics.  And I can proudly say that some of these stories are the most fun and  FUNNY stories I've written. Which is why I'm so proud that we can  collect them all here. For the FIRST time! And a bunch of these stories  haven't been reprinted since his original run!" — Dan Parent

I love a great segue as much as anyone, so here's:

PSYCHO GOREMAN. The Comics Magazine of PURE SPACE TERROR!

"PSYCHO GOREMAN! The Arch-Duke of Nightmares is making PURE COMIC SPACE TERROR! Psycho Goreman is a 65 page Sci-Fi Anthology comic in slick high-quality magazine format. Based on the fantastic film from  the mind of Steven Kostanski. Featuring a killer line-up of top  creative talent. In the tradition of mature readers publications like HEAVY METAL  MAGAZINE. Larger than regular comic book format to showcase the  electrifying mind-blowing art."

Flesh Eating Cheerleaders from Outer Space.

"We love those old classic horror B-Movies from the 60s and 70s. We  wanted to try and recreate the feeling of those old horror movies with  this story. And who better to target on this then a bunch of college  cheerleaders.

When a meteor crashes in the middle of campus, the students at  Pullman University didn't realize that they were being invaded. These  space creatures are able to inhabit and take over the human body. So,  what happens when a group of cheerleaders are caught in the middle? They  become these flesh-eating cannibals, of course.

Soon, the problem isn't going to be the creatures, it's going to be the monsters that these cheerleaders become."
